Cash Flow Forms & Tools This is part 1 of 2 handouts I prepared for a cash flow seminar I did for my local SCORE chapter in 2011.

Palo Alto Software, maker of several software programs, including Business Plan Pro, posts several free calculators at its Web site. Most of these seem to use "Flash" technology, so a screen will appear and you should be able to change the calculations by rolling your mouse's cursor over the numbers to increase or decease the amount. Some of the calculators I have played with at this site are:

Starting Costs Calculator

Cash Flow Calculator

Break Even Calculator

Investor Offering Calculator

Email ROI Calculator

Website Conversion Rate Calculator

Pay Per Click ROI Calculator

FinaCenter, Inc. has a very long list of financial calculators available at their Web site: Most of the calculators in their small business section have the added attraction of a help page and hyperlinks on many terms used, so that by running your mouse over the term a definition appears. I found many of the calculators to be more inclusive and detailed than at other sites. Some examples are:

How much do I need to start my business?

Should I buy or lease equipment?

Should I get a loan or a line of credit?

Should I take advantage of trade discounts?

What is my business worth today?

This calculator is provided by KJE Computer Solutions, LLC. It is designed to determine how much inventory should be held and the efficient timing of inventory orders. Inventory Analysis

Patents and Patent Searching Nice page posted by the University of Southern California, with information to assist the layman in understanding and searching for patents, plus a variety of links to assist in the process.

HR Salary Wizard® This tool from is used to benchmark your job to the closest match in's database by searching your job title and location.

TimeValue Software Calculators This link takes you to their site, which has a nice selection of Web-based investment, lease, retirement, personal finance, and home financing calculators.

The Retail Owners Institute® This Web site contains links to numerous articles and online tools for the retail industry, including information by market segment: "See benchmarks - and five year trend charts! - for the six key ratios every retailer must monitor. See how your store compares."  The site is posted by the consulting firm of Outcalt & Johnson Retail Strategists.

The United States Chamber of Commerce Web site: is a starting place for many small business tools, including personal and business calculators. One of more interesting is the Credit Assessment calculator which will give you a "Good," "Fair," or "Needs Improvement" classification, in order to forewarn you of problems you might have qualifying for certain loans.
